Kaspers Invade Florida

OMG! They’ve Changed...

Paul and Peggy arrive March 3 2018 4 pm for an 11 day vacation with us in Dunedin Florida. We hadn’t seen them for a long time so you can imagine our surprise when they scampered up and gave us a hug.

We took them to our condo where after a few adult beverages they revered to their hominid form.

Pollen Count Exceeds 10 on Richter Scale

Tarpon Springs Tavern

We traditionally go out to eat on the first day of a visit to our humble abode. Unique to this picture is the heavy pollen saturation. It was in the words of our local unemployed weatherman “A humdinger.” In case you wonder what people from New Mexico eat; Paul had a Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich and Peggy had Fish and Chips.

Next morning Honeymoon Island Beach Walking. Slideshow follows.

From the Beach

Tarpon Springs Sponge Docks

Paûlos and Pénky

The legacy of Greek sponge divers is palpable in the many ships, statues, restaurants, and stores in this small waterfront part of the city. It is a tourist Mecca and should be on everyone’s bucket list. A slide show of our Greeks for the day follows. If people eat fish and chips, what do sharks eat...PAUL!!!

A welcome break in the trinket safari. The guy at the end flashed a $100 bill and joined in the picture. He kept the $100.

People Whisperer Paul

New found friend.

It is amazing to watch Paul make friends wherever he goes. People are attracted to him on the street, bars, parks, men’s rooms....

Mermaid Sanctuary

Dollars Work!

We visited the Weeki Wachee Mermaid State Park. What do Mermaids eat? How do you care for your mermaid?

Mer.....what the hell...

Ralph, look at those two bald guys in the audience! No, Johnie! Check this chick out!

Homosassa Hunting

Far from the wilds of New Mexico Paul and Peggy prepare to enter the gator infested jungle tributaries of Homasassa Springs.

A short northerly drive from Weeki Wachee, Home to ersatz mermaids, to Homasassa Springs State Wildlife Park, home to Lu the hippopotamus, our intrepid visitors prepare for their ride on the African Queen-or Queen something....

This wildlife park attracts wounded manatees and tourists worldwide.

15 minute pontoon boat ride to the wildlife portal. Slide show follows.

Can your manatee do this? Unfortunately I was unable to get a clear pic of a recuperating manatee. My bad.

You have to eat everything on your plate, Peggy. The Corn Beef and Pastrami Police are very strict here.

Heritage Village

House of the seven gables

We visited the Largo Florida Living History Museum, a 21 acre site that contains 33 buildings unique to the area from the 19th century. Many of the buildings have period furniture and goods used in daily life.

Under 14 cents a gallon but as Peggy points out, contains lead. Slide show follows.

Old RR station and caboose. Slide show follows.

As Paul was demonstrating this method of obtaining water, 12 elderly men lined up for the outhouse. I was number 13.

Found hanging in the post office.

Peggy’s father too. Runs in the family.

Part two coming soon.

To reduce viewing fatigue the rest of the invasion story  will arrive shortly. I’m looking for it...ok, I found it. Go to Peggy and Paul to continue.
