May 13, 2018 Eidfjord Norway

Leave the lights on please.

Good bye good ship Viking Sea. Combination bus ride and train ride today around one or more of the fjords. 7.5 Hours.

A river rages through it.

Lots of houses with grass roofs. They were First layered with wood and then covered with dirt and grass. The roof is good for twenty years. I think this one has exceeded its useful life

All the churches had the same architect. There is a rule that the size of the church had to accommodate 15% of the people living in the county. The guide used another word than county but again it escaped the cell I was holding it in. If anyone finds the escapee please let me know.

I don’t think they counted in the tally. It is said that in Chicago many years ago these people could vote.

First waterfall of the day, Tvindefossan. For some reason the pay toilets got busy at each waterfall stop. I should have taken a photo of the people standing in long lines holding their credit cards. Credit card toilets amaze me.

Passed this farm with an ancient building in rubbles. See it?

At the train station. Carol is attempting to show off her DNA.

All aboard the Flam Railway!

More fun please. we are on the Flamsbana train traveling from Flåm to Myrdal where we will Have lunch and return to the ship by bus.

The higher we go the more evidence it was a cold winter.

We passed 10 stations on the way to Myrdal.

I like this view better.

Our destination. We were greeted by snow upon our arrival and paradoxically it was really warm. I’m thinking 60 degrees. We were dressed for 40. Too hot. Imagine that.

Food Troll?

Lunch at Fleischer’s Hotel, since 1860 or so. We arrived earlier than expected and it went downhill from the start. We were one of the last tables and there wasn’t much food left. I was observing the plates people brought back from the buffet tables. OMG people were stacking two plates and a plate for several deserts. No wonder there wasn’t much food remaining. So the woman on my left asked me, Are you on bus 8? I replied, Not at the moment. Sorry I couldn’t resist. She was totally flummoxed. I told her I was from bus 6. No, we did not hold hands and sing Kumbaya together. There I am again winning friends and influencing people...

This is Kjosfossen. Very impressive. You would be surprised at the number of people who will elbow, slither and otherwise do an end run to get in front of you when you are shooting a picture. I think they are still searching for her.

Here is a good shot of the wood covered by grass. Carol said, Bill where are the goats? I told her they were in Switzerland... okey-dokey, let’s return to the ship for our celebration.

Wow, Carol! We really look spiffy dressed up! This is our 35th wedding anniversary. Tomorrow starts our voyage into number 36. It just keeps getting better and better. Carol had swordfish and I had duck. Wine too....maybe three.

Lets toddle off to Bergen together.
